i was wondering what a good laptop would be for school and gaming , for price range just under $1300

short answer: there are no good gaming laptops.

laptops are by nature unsuitable for gaming, the key concerns with a portable computer are heat management, and battery life, both of which are massively impaired by a powerful graphics card. there are a few laptops out there which will be able to play some games at a lower level, but will still need to be plugged into the wall if you wish to play for a reasonable amount of time. if your a very serious gamer and care about the graphics quality and such, i would advise you to get a desktop for gaming, and a cheaper laptop for school work. if you are not concerned with graphics quality and such, you whould be able to get a laptop that will handle games such as WOW with reasonable proficiency.

that being said, if you really just want a laptop for school that will also be able to play games at a casual level, this appears to be, by far, the best laptop you can get for the price range in terms of hardware. the graphics card should be powerfull enough to run most games at medium settings on the 14" screen (a smaller screen will make it easier for the system to run the game with good frame rates). this should be the best laptop you can get for under $1300, if you have any other questions feel free to post them.

Wow, that was painful to type. Those 2 words, gaming and laptop should not be in the same sentance.

The option that YOUGOTKICKED posted is a good choice if your set on that type of solution.

Laptops have many faults... most notably... no upgrades to the parts that count for a good gaming experiance. CPU, Sound Card, Video card. This being said your "gaming laptop" won't have the return on money investment potential a oh... say a lower priced laptop for work/school.... and a project PC/desktop for gaming. Yes a bit more money now.. but major savings later in parts upgrades.. bla bla. let alone the major advantage of far better gaming enjoyment. Of course this is just my Hardcore Gamers 2 cents.... Its your buck, but try to think beyond the next 12 months.... games get beefier and beefier for requirements...and its not going to stop anytime soon.
