The best way to add a Multi-Function Printer to a network is to add a
Print Server hub to your network. Keep in mind that only a Print Server
that supports Multi-Function Printers, like the IOGEAR MULTI-FUNCTION PRINT SERVER, available at mwave.com, can be used when connecting a Multi-Funtion Printer to your network. The MFP print server allows any networked computer to share a USB Multi-Function Printer which will allow multiple network users to Print, Scan, and Fax using the same Multi-Function Printer.
The installation is simple: 1. connect the MFP Print Server to an available network connection on your network. (A typical home or office based network should already have a small network hub or DSL router with an available 10/100 ethernet port) 2. Connect your MFP(Multi-function printer) to the USB port on the MFP Printer server (IOGEAR MFP Print Server hub). 3. Go to one of the workstations and run the Print Server installation CD. (this will load a Print server usb port link on your desktop.) 4. Install the MFP printer installation CD on the workstation and when you are prompted to connect your USB printer, click on the USB port link icon which will open a small window showing the available USB Print Servers on the network. Click on the "Available Printer" link in the window and click on the "Connect" Buton. 5. Once you have clicked the connect Buton, the printer installation will detect the printer and continue with the installation of your printer software. Once the Multi-Function Printer software is loaded on your computer, you will be able to print, fax and scan from your workstation. Follow the above steps on every workstation computer on the network so everyone can use the Multi-funtion printer. |
